In Memory of
Samuel Crandall*
Section B-06
*Stone broken. No additional information on this portion. The other portion with his dates would seem to no longer exist.
According to Public Member Trees. (www.ancestry.com), Samuel Crandall was born in 1791 and died on 27 Aug 1848. I can accept the latter date because I cannot find him in the 1850 US Federal Census, but I find the former date problematic. If he were indeed born in 1791, then he would have married a woman (Lorinda) 10 years his senior. I think Samuel Crandall was more likely born on a date closer to Lorinda’s date of birth, 1781.
These same Public Member Trees, I might note, also say Lorinda was born in 1828 and died in 1893. Obviously, her gravestone tells a very different story.
