Young's History p. 255 says he was one of those from England in 1834.
The information in Young's history of Chautauqua County is extremely brief. There is another John Thorne buried in Sinclairville, born about the same time, died in 1850 (which makes it rather hard to find information on him). He may be the one born in England. This John Thorne, who married Mahala, is listed in 1850, 1855, and 1860 censuses as being born in New York. The 1855 NY census says Dutchess County, NY. Likewise, the census records for his children, Clarissa and Horace, lists their parents as born in New York.
