Garrett Stryker
New York Militia
War of 1812
1771-1845
The community of Strykersville takes it's
name from Garrett Stryker, a pioneer who first cleared the forest at that site in 1808. Garrett served with the Sheldon militia during the War of 1812, marching with his neighbors to the defense of the Niagara frontier. He married Salome Luce in 1796 in Richfield, NY. They had 11 children.
