Civil War:
NILES, JOHN R.— Age, 18 years. Enlisted, August 12, 1862,
at Troy, to serve 3 years; mustered in as Private, Co. A,
August 27, 1862; surrendered, September 15, 1862, and paroled,
September 16, 1862, at Harper's Ferry, VA; promoted Corporal
prior to April, 1863; mustered out with company, June 5, 1865,
near Alexandria, VA.
